Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing Villarreal defender, Pau Torres, despite the Spanish side pricing the 26-year-old at £40m.

Unai Emery has turned things around at Villa Park since replacing Steven Gerrard last year, guiding the club to European football for the first time in 13 years.

The Villains are set for a big transfer window and have been linked with the likes of Scott McTominay and Brennan Johnson, who could potentially be playing at Villa Park next season.

Emery’s side have already agreed their first deal of the window, as Youri Tielemans has agreed a deal to join the club following relegation with Leicester City.

However, star player, Ollie Watkins, could leave the club this summer as the England international has attracted interest from a host of Premier League sides and the Villains are preparing for departures this summer.

Equally, the Midlands-based side are plotting moves for a variety of summer additions and are reportedly interested in signing Spanish defender, Pau Torres.

The 26-year-old has made 173 appearances for Villarreal and has earned 23 caps for the Spanish national side. During his time in Spain, the central defender has won one trophy, picking up the Europa League in 2021.

A move to Aston Villa could be made simpler due to the Spaniard working with Unai Emery during Villarreal’s Europa League triumph.

However, the Villians are not the only club interested in Torres, as Bayern Munich are reportedly monitoring his situation following a poor performance in the Champions League.

The Bundesliga side clinched their 11th league title in as many seasons, after Borussia Dortmund’s final day stalemate with Mainz 05.

Any deal to sign the highly-rated defender could cost up to £40m, as the former Malaga defender is under contract until the summer of next year.
