Aston Villa have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Barcelona’s Ferran Torres and Raphinha, as a deal with Mateu Alemany edges closer.
The Villains have been in a terrific run of form under Unai Emery, which saw them remain undefeated for seven consecutive Premier League matches. Wins over Chelsea and Newcastle has put them in slight contention to finish in the Top Four.
Star striker, Ollie Watkins, has lead the line during this impressive spell and sits eighth in the Premier League goalscorer rankings with 14 goals.
Emery’s side saw their run come to an end with a defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, but supporters are still hopeful for success under their new head coach.
Their hopes of achievement have been boosted as Villa have made a ‘formal proposal’ for Mateu Alemany to join their project and work alongside Emery.
Alemany has worked as Barcelona’s director of football since 2021 but has confirmed that he will be leaving the Catalan side at the end of the campaign.

With Alemany set to join, the Villains have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Barcelona stars, Ferran Torres and Raphinha.
The former Manchester City winger, Torres, has made 67 appearances for Barca since joining in January 2022, scoring 14 and assisting eight.
This season has been a fruitful campaign for the Spaniard, making 41 appearances which is the highest he has managed at this point of a season.
On the other hand, Raphinha has not only had a stellar season in terms of appearances, the Brazilian has also contributed to 13 goals in La Liga.
After a tricky star, the former Leeds winger has started to repay the club for the £50m they spent to acquire his services, as he scored and assisted in Barca’s 4-0 win over Real Betis.
Signing the duo could cost the Villains around £100m, which may be a tough ask for the Midlands based club. However, with Barca’s recent financial struggles, a move for either of these players may be more feasible that first thought.
