Aston Villa enjoyed a fine Premier League campaign in 2022/23 to finish in seventh place and qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League play-offs, marking their return to the European stage for the first time in 13 years.

Villa sat 16th in the table when Steven Gerrard was shown the door in October and following the appointment of Unai Emery, the West Midlands club won 12 of their next 18 games.

Emery is known as a European specialist having won three Europa League crowns with Sevilla and one with Villarreal, so Villa fans have every right to be increasingly optimistic ahead of the upcoming campaign.

With that in mind, here is Aston Villa’s confirmed squad for the 2023-24 Premier League season.

Aston Villa Braced To Make Further Push At European Places And Target Europa League

Villa’s squad has only improved during the summer transfer window with some quality arrivals including Youri Tielemans on a free from Leicester City, Pau Torres for £28.5m from Unai Emery’s former club Villarreal, and a hefty £47.5m sum for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.

It’s realistic to expect that they will better last season’s point tally, especially considering the drastic start they had under Gerrard, but pushing one of Newcastle, Brighton, Spurs or Chelsea out of the top six won’t be an easy feat – and that’s assuming a top four of Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

The oddsmakers price the Villans at 9/1 to finish in the Champions League places and 11/4 to end in the top six.
