Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe is one of a number of targets Aston Villa could look to make a move for in the January transfer window, according to exclusive odds compiled by SportsLens.

Smith Rowe still has three years left on his contract at the North London club but has played just 115 minutes of action in five appearances so far this season, having been edged out of favour in a talented Gunners side.

Our odds compiler took a look at Villa’s options for the upcoming window and who Unai Emery could look to add to his squad.

  • Emery keen to reunite with Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos and bolster Villa’s midfield depth
  • Pedro Goncalves priced at 4/1 to join the Midlands outfit ahead of Smith Rowe at 6/1
  • Highly-rated Athletic Bilbao youngster Nico Williams 7/1 to make switch from Spain to England

SportsLens Head of News Lee Astley said: “Aston Villa have enjoyed an impressive start to the Premier League season but they’ll need further reinforcements in January in order to aid a potential charge at winning the Europa Conference League.

“Unai Emery is a European mastermind and he’s got his eye on a number of targets, including Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos – who he briefly worked with during his time as Arsenal manager.

“Sporting Lisbon winger Pedro Goncalves is also one of the shortest names in the betting alongside Emile Smith Rowe, who is seeking a return to regular football having lost out on his starting role at the Emirates.

“Emery is highly likely to look in La Liga for additions and players such as Nico Williams, Robin Le Normand and Alex Baena are also fancied at prices of 10/1 or under.

“Former Celtic winger Jota recently completed a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad but he’s 12/1 to make a rapid switch to the English top-flight and join the West Midlands outfit, with Tottenham also rumoured to be chasing his signature.

“Manchester United pair Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek can consider their respective careers at the club over and available for transfer, as Erik ten Hag continues to comb through his squad and fish out the unwanted.

“Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is in fine form in the Championship but they’ll be very reluctant to part ways with the academy graduate to a local rival.

“Tammy Abraham has also been mentioned as a longshot chance for Villa in January, priced at 20/1 with steep competition at Roma following the arrivals of Andrea Belotti and Romelu Lukaku.”
