Gareth Southgate has named his England squad for the upcoming international break and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is among the list despite his recent injury doubts.
Is Bukayo Saka Injured?
The 22-year-old was thought to be suffering from a muscular problem after he was forced off in the 34th minute during Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat by Lens in the Champions League.
Saka was heavily involved prior to his substitution, as he set up Gabriel Jesus to put the Gunners 1-0 up. However, after the match Mikel Arteta revealed the latest on his winger’s fitness.
The Arsenal manager said: “It was big enough not to allow him to continue to play and that’s a worry. We don’t know anything more.”
Many expected the England international to miss Arsenal’s huge Premier League clash this Sunday, as they welcome Manchester City to the Emirates. However, fans are now wondering if he will be available for selection despite recent concerns.
England manager Southgate has revealed Saka is still being ‘assessed’ despite being named in the squad but the timing of the fixtures should play into their hands.
Southgate said: “He’s still being assessed, Arsenal have got a big game this weekend and then there’s another 7 days before we play Australia then 10 days before we play Italy.”
