In the latest Arsenal transfer news, Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has been ruled out for up to six weeks with an ankle injury, and is set to be out until mid-April.

In the 1-0 loss to Arsenal, Tielemans received treatment on the field after landing awkwardly, however continued on to play through to full-time. He was later seen exiting the ground wearing a protective boot and was using crutches.

This injury may cause Mikel Arteta to avoid attempting to sign the Belgian ace. Especially as Tielemans’ injury is ligament damage to the ankle, which is known to reoccur.

The Leicester midfielder hasn’t played much over the last few games, only being used as a substitute for the Foxes’ last two games, and wasn’t even in the squad for the 4-1 win over Spurs.

Tielemans is still yet to sign a new contract to extend his stay in the East Midlands, and his current deal will expire on June 3oth 2023. This means that he’ll be free to sign with anyone as a free agent.

If the Gunners don’t opt for the Belgian this summer, they’re likely to go back in for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, who they attempted to sign in January.

Rumour has it, they’re also interested in fellow Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, after impressing at the Qatar World Cup. There’s been plenty of Arsenal transfer news as of recent, with the Gunners set to invest heavily in the summer once again.

Rodgers Comments On Injury

“He showed real bravery to try to help the team. When you see it, it looks a nasty one. We just have to see what the results are. He’s been brilliant in my time here. In fairness to Youri, he’s always been available. He’s a top-class player, so to not have his availability for a number of games is not ideal. It provides an opportunity for other players.”
