Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have seen their title odds slash to 6/5 after a last minute victory over relegation battlers Bournemouth.

Bournemouth travelled to the Emirates as huge underdogs given each sides place in the Premier League table, but the Cherries got off to the best possible start. Straight from kick-off the away side took the lad through Phillip Billing, as he smashed the ball into the back of the net.

The Gunners didn’t look themselves in the opening half, with Arteta choosing to bench Granit Xhaka. This meant that for the first time since 1986 a player that had played under Arsene Wenger was not in the starting lineup for the north London side.

Bournemouth saw out the first half and went into the break ahead. Things got even better for the away side as defender Marcos Sensei got on the end of a corner to double the visitors lead. Sending the whole of the Emirates into silence.

However, the hosts replied instantaneously through midfield stalwart Thomas Partey and they manged to find an equaliser minutes after. Ben White scored his first Arsenal goal and the game was even with twenty minutes on the clock.

The scoreline was even at the 97th minute, until the hosts took the lead with seconds to go through substitute Reiss Nelson. Giving the Gunners all three points and maintaining their three point lead at the top of the table.

Can Arsenal stay clear of Man City?

Today’s result has kept City at bay, with city winning their match against Newcastle earlier this afternoon. Mikel Arteta will hoping to keep the gap at five points, with Pep Guardiola’s side showing no signs of slowing down.

The Gunners will be hoping for an easier 90 minutes in their next league fixture, as they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage. The home side have been having a terrific season under Marco Silva and a possible upset could be on the cards.
