Arsenal broke their own single-season record for Premier League goals scored from corners over the weekend, with two against Newcastle taking their total tally to 13.
Unstoppable Arsenal Corners
Arsenal have always been a threat from corners in the Premier League, but over the last two seasons they have proved themselves as the corner kings in England.
The Gunners have already managed to equal the single season record in the league for direct corner goals with two over the weekend taking their total up to 13 for the season.
Newcastle looked likely to concede from almost every Arsenal corner on Saturday night, but luckily for the Magpies only two were able to find the back of the net.
A Sven Botman own goal was followed by a bullet header from Polish fullback Jakub Kiwior at the Emirates, as Arsenal easily dispatched of Newcastle in a dominant 4-1 win.
Set piece coach Nicolas Jover is the genius behind Arsenal’s dead ball routines and he is the man who has to take most of the credit over the last two years for the way he has transformed Arsenal’s set pieces.
Arsenal went from the third lowest set piece scorers in the Premier League in 2020/21 to the top scorers from dead ball situations just three months after Jover moved to North London.
Although the Gunners have been prolific in past season’s from corners (set new single-season record in PL last year with 13 goals), it is this year that Arsenal have been relying most on set pieces.

There are still 12 Premier League games remaining this year and having already broken their own set piece record, the Gunners could set a remarkable new high for corner goals this year.
With Mikel Arteta hunting down a first club title in over 20 years, Arsenal’s set pieces this year could prove to be the missing ingredient for their title charge.
