Arsenal Injury Update: Gunners Sweating Over Thomas Partey’s Fitness

Arsenal Injury Update

We are here with the latest Arsenal injury update ahead of this evening’s meeting with Everton, and the Gunners may be without several key figures.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping to enact revenge over the Toffees after they snatched all three points from the Premier League leaders at the beginning of February, and this rescheduled return fixture presents another opportunity to restore a five point gap at the summit.

James Tarkowski’s header was enough to hand Sean Dyche a memorable victory in his first game in the Goodison dugout, while also condemning Arsenal to only their second defeat of the season, although they would go on to lose to title rivals Manchester City soon after.

The relegation-threatened visitors will hope to repeat their heroics of the first league meeting, but they face a tall order to become only the second side to walk away with three points at the Emirates this season.

Ahead of tonight’s clash, the Gunners will be hoping to welcome back Thomas Partey to the midfield, who has been integral to their progressive football and possession-based stranglehold on games.

Although the Ghanaian featured as a late substitute against Leicester last time out, it remains to be seen whether Arteta will include him in the starting 11 having trained very little since his return from the sidelines.

The Spaniard said in his Tuesday press conference: “The question mark on Thomas. He hasn’t trained much but looks like he could be available.

“Let’s see how he goes today. We’ve missed him in the past few games and hopefully he’ll be back.”

Jorginho has deputised to great effect since arriving in January, so Gunners fans will take comfort in the fact they have a ready made replacement should this fixture come too soon for Partey.

Elsewhere, Emile Smith-Rowe and winter addition Jakub Kiwior were handed minutes for the U21 side, and will likely be named in the squad for tonight’s game. The latter is yet to feature for the first team, but Arsenal fans were singing his praises after his exceptional passing range was on full display on Monday night.
