Current Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has expressed his admiration for the Premier League, which he described as the “best in the world”, and as such his price in the next Tottenham manager odds market have dropped considerably overnight.

Although transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tottenham’s first priority is to instate a new sporting director following Fabio Paratici’s disgraced exit, the question on everyone’s lips remains who will be the next permanent manager.

With Ryan Mason deputising until the summer, Spurs’ only remaining season prospect is to qualify for the Europa League, with the warm glow of Champions League football now all but diminished.

One win in their previous six has left an already disgruntled Tottenham faithful questioning the future of the club, particularly with their main source of goals, all-time top scorer Harry Kane, continually linked with a move away this summer.

With a host of narratives feeding into the uncertainty of next season, the managerial search is perhaps the most pressing.

The club have already missed out on two of their main targets, Julian Nagelsmann and former boss Mauricio Pochettino, with the former ruling himself out of contention, while the latter appears to be on his way to Chelsea, much to the dismay of a large proportion of Spurs fans.

However, it isn’t all doom and gloom in north London with the mastermind behind Feyenoord’s first Eredivisie title in six years, Arne Slot, emerging as a clear favourite among the club’s hierarchy.

Speaking to the press in perfect, unbroken English following their title-clinching win, he admitted his next career move will likely be away from the Netherlands, but refused to comment on rumours linking him with Tottenham.

In typically Dutch fashion, his emphasis on high-octane possession-based football has been a joy to witness this season having lost just once in the league, while he also led them to the Europa Conference League final last year.

Although there is nothing concrete at this moment in time, reports suggest Spurs are huge admirers of the 44-year-old, who represents all the key credentials that they are keen to reinstate –  an emphasis on youth, attractive brand of football, and most importantly, the possibility of silverware.
