Brooks Koepka Is The Only LIV Golf Player At The Ryder Cup
LIV Golf is still arguably the biggest talking point in the world of golf, with the rivalry between PGA Tour and LIV Golf players still ever present. Rivalries will have to be put aside for the 2023, with one LIV golfer representing Team USA. That’s right, Brooks Koepka is the only LIV Golf player competing at the 44th Ryder Cup.
Koepka is set to compete in his forth consecutive Ryder Cup. The five-time major champion has a record of 6 wins, 5 losses and one halve at three previous Ryder Cup’s. Not only that, but Koepka has never lost a singles match at the Ryder Cup (2 wins, 1 halve, no losses).
The 33-year-old could not be denied his spot on Team USA, with captain Zach Johnson selecting Koepka as one of his six captains picks. The former world number one won his fifth major at the 2023 PGA Championship earlier this year at Oak Hill, as well as finishing second at The Masters in April at Augusta National.
Despite other LIV Golf players such as Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed and Talor Gooch not getting a look in, Koepka simply couldn’t be denied. Brooks came close to qualifying automatically for the Ryder Cup, which just shows how impressive a season he has had on the PGA Tour, considering he can only play in the four majors.
