Antonio Conte’s sack odds have drifted to 17/20 after his side’s impressive 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest, goals from Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min secured all three-points.
Spurs fans were expecting a reaction from their side, after their embarrassing display in the Champions League during the week. Nottingham Forest travelled to north London in hopes of causing a huge upset and maintain their distance from the relegation zone.
Spurs got off to an electric start and took the lead in the early stages of the match through talisman, Harry Kane. Tottenham’s most prolific striker in history headed the ball home to open the scoring and moments later doubled the lead from the penalty-spot.
Forest offered very little for the remainder of the half, with defender Joe Worrall coming closest after his header went just wide. They huffed and puffed but went into the break 2-0 down and a mountain to climb.
Conte’s side didn’t rest on their laurels and mid-way through the second-half they extended their lead to three. The recent form of Son has concerned supporters, but there was nothing concerning about his cool finish into the bottom right corner.
Worrall did find the back of the net, to cut the deficit back down to two and the visitors had the opportunity to score again. However, Ayew’s penalty was saved by Fraser Forster and Spurs took all three points, keeping Conte at the club for now.
Will Conte Be Sacked?
Today’s victory will be a welcomed one for Spurs supporters as it has been a difficult season for the north London side. Pressure has built on Antonio Conte throughout this campaign and many feared he would be sacked after Tottenham’s Champions League exit.
The Italian will now be focusing on the his next Premier League fixture, as his side travel to Southampton who are fighting for their place in the league. Spurs remain fourth in the table, with Champions League qualification being pivotal.
