Alex Hammond Cheltenham Tip: 1.30pm Turners Novices’ Chase – MIGHTY POTTER @ 5/4 with BetUK

Hammond’s first selection on Day 3 of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival is one of her main selections of the week. The Sky Sports Racing expert is picking Mighty Potter to win the Turners Novices’ Chase as the betting favourite.

Mighty Potter is one of the most exciting novice chasers in Ireland and is trained by Gordon Elliott. Two of his three chase triumphs have come in Grade 1 company and he won’t mind the ground either.

Shishkin thrived for a step up in trip and travelled supremely well going that half a stride slower at Ascot. He has a real chance here to win his third Cheltenham Festival race.

Hammond’s penultimate tip on Thursday comes in the shape of So Scottish in the Magners Plate Handicap Chase.

He is currently the 7/2 favourite which is understandable. He needs a few to come out to get a run but with Emmet Mullins at the helm, he has a really strong chance of winning here.

Alex Hammonds fifth and final betting tip on Day 3 of the Cheltenham Festival comes in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at 4.50pm. She is siding with Ashroe Diamond to triumph here and is taking on the favourite.

This is one of Hammond’s top picks for the Festival. She is strong over hurdles and has festival winning form thanks to her win in the mares’ bumper at Aintree last year. She carries some great form into this race too and potentially has what it takes to beat Nicky Henderson’s favourite in Luccia.
