According to reports, Serie A giants AC Milan are in concrete talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Milan, who reached this year’s Champions League semi-final, are reportedly looking to strengthen their midfield options in the summer – with Loftus-Cheek being identified as a potential candidate.

The report comes from well respected transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, revealing the news on social media.

“Understand AC Milan are in concrete talks to sign Ruben Loftus Cheek from Chelsea. He’s priority target to rebuild the midfield.” Romano tweeted.

“Loftus Cheek, keen on the move as the negotiation is progressing very well.”

Loftus-Cheek came through Chelsea’s youth ranks, graduating from the Cobham academy after joining in 2004.

He has had loan spells at both Crystal Palace and Fulham, but after almost 20 years with the Blues – they look set to part ways.

Of course, Loftus-Cheek would be joining another Cobham graduate if he decides to make the switch to Italy.

Fikayo Tomori joined Milan from Chelsea permanently back in 2021 after initially joining on loan, and has been an ever-present figure in the side since.

Despite having an inconsistent Chelsea career in terms of appearances, Loftus-Cheek has played 70 matches for the club over the past two seasons

This term, he has made 30 appearances in all competitions, with 22 coming in the Premier League and seven coming in the Champions League.

Not only has he been deployed in midfield, but also as a right midfielder, as well as a right wing-back.

However, he has failed to deliver in front of goal this season. The 27-year-old has failed to register a single goal in 2022/23, and has provided just two assists.
