AC Milan are among a host of Serie A sides are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, despite interest from West Ham.

The English defender has been linked with a move away from the Red Devils this summer and has reportedly caught the eye of a variety of Serie A sides – including AC Milan.

Maguire’s future in Manchester has been hit with further doubt in recent weeks, after the England international was stripped of his role as captain. Erik ten Hag opted to give midfield maestro, and last season’s vice-captain, Bruno Fernandes the captain’s armband.

Premier League club, West Ham United, have also shown interest in the former Leicester City defender, with talks over a move for both Scott McTominay and Maguire reportedly progressing.

However, with no fee or move agreed, AC Milan are reportedly confident in pursuing the defender and will face competition from, Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan.

AC Milan finished fourth in a season that failed to reach expectations following Milan’s title winning campaign, last year.

Stefano Poli was unable guide his side to silverware and were swept aside by local rivals, Inter, in the Champions League quarter finals.

One positive to come from the 2022-23 campaign is the development of Portuguese youngster, Rafael Leao, who signed a new deal that – keeping him at the club until 2028.

Despite this poor season, Milan made several additions this summer, with Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and most recently, Samuel Chukwueze.

Adding Maguire to Poli’s side could see a formidable partnership form with England teammate, Fikayo Tomori. However, the United defender has a huge salary expectation which could hamper any deal this window.

The 30-year-old has two-years remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford and is reportedly available for a loan move – with an option to buy at the end of the season.
