There are many 2023 Irish Oaks tips flying about ahead of Saturday’s bg Curragh Group One race – a contest that trainer Aidan O’Brien has half of the 8 runners and needs just one more success to become the winning most trainer in the history of the race. But, we’ve got an interesting ‘time theory’ that might suggest Ryan Moore has picked the wrong O’Brien runner.

2023 Irish Oaks Tips: Warm Heart To Show The Love
This Saturday’s Irish Oaks is not a bad renewal.
A lot of the focus will be on trainer Aidan O’Brien as he looks to win the Curragh prize for a seventh time and in the process overtake Sir Michael Stoute as the top handler in the race.
The Ballydoyle main man has 50% of the eight Irish Oaks runners too and these also include the first two in the betting – Savethelastdance and WARM HEART.
The former – Savethelastdance – is the pick of jockey Ryan Moore, so it’s no shock the Epsom Oaks runner-up is the big favourite here as Moore also looks for his third win in the race.
Savethelastdance was staying on well – albeit held – to Soul Sister last time at Epsom and Moore, who also rode Warm Heart last time, clearly feels she’s got more to come. (Watch below).
However, these big race jockeys don’t get it right all the time and I suspect the pick between Savethelastdance and Warm Heart, who has won his last three, wasn’t an easy one.
Warm Heart has clearly improved over his last three runs and will head to the Curragh on a four-timer.
With the last of those wins being his best yet when powering home to win the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot by 2 1/2 lengths with Lumiere Rock, who runs here too, back in silver.

What About The Times?
The interesting factor though is the times of both the Ribblesdale Stakes and the Epsom Oaks. Okay, both races are run at different tracks (same ground & trip, 1m4f), so the times have to be taken with a pinch of salt.
That said, Warm Heart won her Ribbledale Stakes in 2m 30.41 secs – it was also her first try over 1m4f and so there could be more to come from this Galileo filly.
In contrast, the winning time in the Epsom Oaks – the race Savethelastdance didn’t even win (2nd) – was a full 6 seconds slower. Run in a time of 2m 36.41 secs.
With that in mind, Warm Heart, with Seamie Heffernan riding, looks the value call from the two main O’Brien runners. Heffernan teamed up with O’Brien to win the race in 2016 on Seventh Heaven too.
