The 2023 Cheltenham Festival weather forecast has been in the news in recent days as there are reports of another cold spell hitting the UK. Therefore, with the Cheltenham Festival set to get going on Tuesday 14th March, horse racing fans are hoping the best jumps meeting doesn’t get frozen out.

Cheltenham Festival Weather Forecast Suggests There Could Be Snow Heading To Prestbury Park

According to the weather experts, there is a very cold spell on its way to the UK – expected to hit Britain between 7th-9th March. With this news race officials at the Cheltenham Festival will be glued to the weather reports – praying it will ‘fall at the first’ and miss Gloucestershire.

Back in 2018 the dreaded ‘Beast From The East’ hit the UK around this time of the year too. Cheltenham survived that cold blast, but will the best four days of jumps action be so lucky this time?

William Hill Slashed The ‘Cheltenham Snow’ Odds To ‘Evs’ In Recent Days

The bookies are clearly worried, with William Hill cutting their ‘snow at Cheltenham’ odds to just ‘Evs’ in recent days. But with the four days of action one of the biggest betting events of the year – the best UK horse racing betting sites will be hoping these odds are all wrong.

Over £1billion is expected to be punted on the 2023 Cheltenham Festival. Therefore, if the ‘Beast From The East’ takes hold at Prestbury Park the bookmakers profits will certainly be frozen out.

Cheltenham Festival Was Hit By High-Winds Drama in 2008

The Cheltenham Festival is also no stranger to ‘acts of god’. In 2008 day two of the Festival (Wed) was called off due to high winds battering the track. As a result, all that day’s races were rerouted to the Thursday in what turned out to be a bumper card.

While in 2001, the Festival was cancelled completely due to a foot and mouth outbreak sweeping the country.

Horse racing fans will be hoping ‘Cheltenham 2023’ doesn’t get added to this list.
