GRANDE MARQUES (System – Starspangledbanner, 2yo debut, turf)
Progeny of Starspangled banner are often ready to go at the first time of asking and those who make their juvenile debuts on turf are 32 from 209 (15.3%) for a profit of £43.11 to a £1 level stake at SP. Fozzy Stack does well with the sire’s progeny and the early foals (January or February) who debuted for him on turf had form figures of 1091161232 (4-10), suggesting that GRANDE MARQUES could be worth a punt first time out.
3.50 Fontwell
BALLYFIN (system – Anthony Honeyball, handicap hurdle debut)
Anthony Honeyball does well with handicap hurdle debutants, scoring with 29 of the 126 qualifiers (23% for a profit of £71.83 to a £1 level stake at SP. BALLYFIN has run with credit in mid-division in three maiden/novice hurdles, shaping as though the step up to today’s 2m5.5f trip would suit, and is a likely improver on his handicap debut.
4.00 Kelso
MISTRAL NELL (system – Fergal O’Brien, handicaps at Kelso)
Fergal O’Brien has an eight from 19 record in handicaps at Kelso (+£10.50) and MISTRAL NELL makes the long journey north for this mares’ handicap hurdle. The seven-year-old appreciated the step up beyond 2m4f for the first time when runner-up over 3m1.5f at Hereford last time and can go one better.
