WINCANTON 2.00
BANTEER (system – Paul Nicholls/Olive Nicholls trainer/jockey combination)
Olive Nicholls has a fine strike-rate when riding for her father Paul, scoring on eight of her 20 mounts (40% strike-rate) for a profit of £9.91 to a £1 level stake at SP. She’s five from eight at Wincanton and BANTEER, possibly unsuited to the left-handed track when a modest fifth at Doncaster last time, placed here on his penultimate start and looks a likely improver on his handicap debut.
WINCANTON 4.00
GOONHILLY (system – Dan Skelton, first-time cheekpieces, finished fifth or worse last time out)
Dan Skelton, like his mentor Paul Nicholls, has a good record when using first-time cheekpieces, especially on horses who finished out of the frame on their latest start. Backing all those who finished fifth or worse last time out would have found 21 winners from 101 bets for a profit of £60.25 to a £1 level stake at SP. Eight-race maiden GOONHILLY, who finished a 33-1 sixth of 16 at Sandown last time, drops down from Class 2 to Class 4 level, and can finally get off the mark.
KEMPTON 6.30
CRACKING GOLD (system – low-drawn Lingfield AW winners next time out, AW again)
It’s rarely easy to win around the inside of the Polytrack at Lingfield, putting low-drawn runners at a disadvantage. Since the beginning of 2018, horses who won at Lingfield from stalls 1 or 2 have a 120 from 445 record (27%) when bidding to follow up in another all-weather contest for a profit of £58.88 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 99.90, A/E = 1.20). CRACKING GOLD, a winner over tonight’s course and distance on his racecourse debut, bolted up from stall 2 at Lingfield next time and can complete his hat-trick.
KEMPTON 7.30
BREAK THE BANK (system – King Power-owned, gelded since last run, all-weather)
Owners King Power Racing do well on the all-weather with newly-gelded runners, scoring with nine of the 27 qualifiers for a profit of £4.88 to the usual £1 stake. Those trained by Andrew Balding have form figures of 131312 (3-6), suggesting a big run from handicap/all-weather debutant BREAK THE BANK.
