In-form Dan Skelton has a good record when using a first-time tongue-tie on his hurdlers, especially in Class 4 and lower company. He’s scored with 52 of the 173 qualifiers (30.1% strike-rate) for a profit of £21.69 to a £1 level stake at SP. LONE SOLDIER, the mount of Tristan Durrell, failed to settle when a modest third at Southwell on his handicap debut in January but the new headgear combination and switch to more conventional hurdles could help.

ARCTURIAN (system – Cotai Glory, geldings on the all-weather)
Gelded progeny of the sire Cotai Glory have a solid record on the all-weather, with 41 winners from 262 bets (15.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £92.53 to a £1 level stake at SP. ARCTURIAN, one of two qualifiers in this restricted novice stakes (the other is SHELBOURNE), was 50-1 when scoring on his debut at Kempton in December but the clock suggests that was no fluke and he can follow up.
