Mo Salah’s latest injury update has indicated that the Liverpool star is likely to feature in the potential title decider against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Reds head into this weekend’s colossal showdown against the champions top of the Premier League table. It will be a huge boost to Jurgen Klopp’s side if Salah is available to start.
The Egyptian King had been struggling with muscle fatigue after injuring his hamstring whilst on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah has missed a number of games for the Merseysiders in recent weeks – including the Carabao Cup final victory and the smash-and-grab win at Nottingham Forest.
However, Salah was given a 15-minute run out in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League last 16 first-leg 5-1 thrashing against Sparta Prague.
Mo Salah Injury
In January 2024, Mo Salah tore his hamstring whilst representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations. To date, Salah has missed ten Liverpool games through that injury.
The 31-year-old did enjoy a scoring return to first-team action when the Reds thrashed Brentford 4-1 in February. However, his 46-minute appearance did more harm than good.
Muscle fatigue on his hamstring injury quickly became evident and Salah missed another four games. He was absent for the Premier League victories against Luton and Nottingham Forest.
Salah also missed the Carabao Cup final win against Chelsea, as well as the FA Cup 5th round victory against EFL Championship side Southampton.
However, his return to action in the Czech Republic has provided Jurgen Klopp’s side a major boost ahead of Sunday’s titanic clash against Manchester City.
Mo Salah Record Vs Manchester City
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Manchester United is the only club Mo Salah has scored more goals against than Manchester City in all competitions.
In his 20 appearances against the Cityzens, Salah has scored an impressive 11 times and provided a total of six assists. The FA Cup is the only competition that he hasn’t netted against them in.
Salah’s Premier League record against the Sky Blues has seen him register seven goals and four assists. The Reds right winger has six goals in his last nine top-flight appearances against the champions alone.
When it comes to victories against City, Salah has been on the winning side seven times from 20 appearances across all competitions. However, only three have come in the Premier League from 13 appearances.
The reverse fixture this season saw the two titans of English football play out a 1-1 draw at the Etihad, Salah was on hand to provide the assist for Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late equaliser.
