Andy Newton’s ‘LAY OF THE DAY’ Horse Racing Tip On Tuesday: 1:00pm Chepstow – OUT OF FOCUS
This Evan Williams runner OUT OF FOCUS is likely to be popular in the market with the best UK horse racing betting sites – especially after running the progressive Lowry’s Bar to two lengths at Wincanton last time out.
Plus, The form of that run has since been franked with the winner going in again.
However, there are a few reasons at the price to look elsewhere for the winner. Firstly, this 6 year-old is still the win over hurdles (5 runs), with his only success coming in a NH Flat race a year ago.
Next up is the ground. The horse seems to act well enough with give underfoot but it’s also worth pointing out that sole win came on good surface.
Other unknowns are the trip, with the horse back up to 2m 3 1/2f today and the last twice he’s raced over this sort of yardage he was beaten 31 and 45 lengths.
The final niggle is that, despite Chepstow being one of Evan Williams’ more local tracks, he’s actually only had 16 hurdles winners from his last 143 sent to post (11%). Add in that jockey Isabel Williams has an even worse 3-from-41 strike-rate (7%) when getting the leg-up on a hurdler, then these stats also give us something to cling to.
With most of the other seven runners in the race having some sort of a chance, we’ll also have plenty running for us, including Borodale from the in-form Olly Murphy camp.
We’ve more horse racing free tips here – including our daily NAP of the Day and Lucky 15 selections.

What Is Lay Betting On Horse Racing?
In short lay betting is to bet on something NOT to happen.
With the introduction of betting exchanges like Betfair, punters can now bet on a horse or a team NOT to win by effectively becoming a bookmaker.
This can be done by staking against a horse or team on a betting exchange.
For example, if you think a horse won’t win a race and it’s 3.00 (2/1). Then you could lay this horse for ÂŁ10.
If the horse loses, you will win ÂŁ10 (less any set commission). Or if the horse wins you will have to pay out ÂŁ20 (just like a bookmaker would).
See below another example – if you were to oppose Galopin Des Champs at 2.80 for ÂŁ10.
You can see the liability if the horse wins would be ÂŁ18. Or if the horse loses you will win ÂŁ10 (less any commission).
