The latest Arsenal transfer exclusive sees the Gunners linked with a move for Getafe striker Borja Mayoral. We can reveal here at SportsLens that the North London side are interested in bringing a new forward to the club in January.
Arsenal Eye Move For Getafe Ace Borja Mayoral
Arsenal are being linked with a £22million bid for Borja Mayoral – but even a deal like that is likely to prove out of reach. Information out of the club suggests that Mikel Arteta‘s side will only sign a striker if they can find a bargain, as Financial Fair Play restrictions continue to limit their hunt for a goalscorer.
Getafe striker Borja Mayoral has 12 goals this season – level with Alvaro Morata and one behind Jude Bellingham in the Spanish goal charts, and SportsLens sources indicate he would be interested in the prospect of moving to England.
But Arsenal‘s deal for Mayoral is currently being played down by sources, and the current information around the club is that the side will only be able to strike January deals that represent incredible market value.
Mayoral has previously been scouted by the likes of Fulham and Crystal Palace and his scoring record in La Liga has put him on the radar as one to watch for this window.
But, even if he is considered enough of an upgrade to lift the Gunners’ level – to put them firmly in title contention this season – it is unlikely they can spend at such a level.
Arteta Also Keen On Defensive Reinforcements
Arsenal would ideally look to sign a full back, midfielder and striker in this window – but finding the financial flexibility to fix all their issues is a problem.
The defence remains an area that is somewhat likely to be addressed but loans are on the agenda if anything else is to become possible.
There are some whispers that they might even become interested in Jordan Henderson’s situation, as he looks to escape Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq but there is no concrete evidence to that yet either.
