Andy Newton’s LAY OF THE DAY: 1:30 Cheltenham – INCH HOUSE
This Jonjo O’Neill chaser certainly looks a nice prospect in the making after winning his last two in decent fashion at Newbury.
However, he’s up another 7lbs here for his last success and is racing away from the Berkshire track and at Cheltenham for the first time today, which will provide a much different test.
He’ll also experience much softer ground today, with conditions at Prestbury Park described as ‘heavy’ and this will be the first time the horse has tackled ground as deep as this. The final unknown is the trip as he’s up to 3m 1 1/2f here (from 2m 6 1/2f) and despite looking likely to stay, based on how he finishes his races – in this ground it’s still a question mark for him to overcome.
The Jonjo O’Neill yard have also had just three winners from their last 25 and are just 3-from-39 (8%) with their chasers at Cheltenham to add to the doubts. Finally, ddd in four lively chances in opposition to have onside, including Cloudy Glen from the in-form Venetia Williams yard, then at the prices here seems enough to take on Inch House today.

What Is Lay Betting On Horse Racing?
In short lay betting is to bet on something NOT to happen.
With the introduction of betting exchanges like Betfair, punters can now bet on a horse or a team NOT to win by effectively becoming a bookmaker.
This can be done by staking against a horse or team on a betting exchange.
For example, if you think a horse won’t win a race and it’s 3.00 (2/1), then you could lay this horse for £10.
If the horse loses, you will win £10 (less any set commission). Or if the horse wins you will have to pay out £20 (just like a bookmaker would).
See below another example – if you were to oppose Galopin Des Champs at 2.80 for £10.
You can see the liability if the horse wins would be £18. Or if the horse loses you will win £10 (less any commission).
