Mark Goldbridge has revealed why Manchester United must qualify for at least the Europa League against Bayern Munich this evening.

Manchester United In Europe

Heading into game week six of the Champions League, Manchester United sit rock-bottom of group A on the brink of dropping out of Europe completely.

Having only mustered one win in five games so far, a 1-0 victory over Copenhagen in which Andre Onana saved a last-minute penalty, the Red Devils only other point came in gameweek five’s damaging 3-3 draw with Galatasaray.

This means that Manchester United must beat group leaders Bayern Munich at Old Trafford this evening, while also relying on other results to go their way.

If Manchester United win however, and Copenhagen and Galatasaray fail to draw, then the Red Devils would finish third and drop into the Europa League.

Many United fans would rather see their team drop out of Europe completely rather than play Europa League football, but YouTuber Mark Goldbridge has explained why playing in the Europa League is better than no European football.

What Did Mark Goldbridge Say About Manchester United In Europe?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the United Stand, Goldbridge said: “I think there’s two big reasons why I say we need to be in Europe.

“We have to win because we’re Manchester United and we have to take whatever is presented to us. And if that’s European football on a Thursday night in the Europa League, I won’t like it but I’ll take it over nothing.

“Because, it’s one thing before Christmas saying ‘I don’t want it’, but I guarantee you in February, when we’re playing one game a week, you’ll want it! Because we all want to watch Man[chester] United. So that’s one reason.

“The second reason, financially, we’re screwed. We are a club in crisis, financially. The Sir Jim Ratcliffe deal nobody knows what that deal will deliver.

“What I know today about Manchester United is, we’re in huge debt, we owe loads of money on transfers, we need to buy players and Financial Fair Play for us, is not good.

“That’s ten, twenty, thirty million, if we’re in the Europa League, that we need.

“Also, it’s an opportunity to qualify for the Champions League next year that we probably won’t get from the Premier League

“At 10 o’clock tonight we’ve got to be in Europe, one way or another”.

Would Manchester United fans be happy watching their side in the Europa League for the remainder of the season?
