Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is the bookmaker’s favourite to be the Champions League top goalscorer for a second season running following Matchday 5.

Who else but Erling Haaland?
The Norwegian phenomenon is the joint-top goalscorer in the competition after the window closed on Matchday 5, where Manchester City have already qualified as the top seed from Group G.
On Tuesday night, Haaland grabbed City’s first in the Sky Blues’ remarkable comeback over RB Leipzig – overturning a 2-0 deficit at half-time to take all three points in a 3-2 win.
After failing to score in both of his first two Champions League outings this season, the 23-year-old got on the board last month away at Young Boys – scoring two.
Before the international break, Haaland added another brace against the Swiss outfit in Manchester and is on pace to take the top goalscorer crown for a second season in a row.
In 2022/23, he finished with 12 goals – four ahead of Liverpool‘s Mohamed Salah in second as City won their first European Cup in the club’s history.

Champions League Top Goalscorer Odds See Harry Kane Close Behind
As it stands, there are three players on five goals – Haaland, Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund’s Champions League campaign could very well end prematurely as United are on the brink of elimination, but Atletico have confirmed their spot in the Round of 16.
Bayern Munich‘s Harry Kane is sitting on four, and with the likelihood that the German giants progress smoothly throughout the competition he is undoubtedly Haaland’s biggest threat.
PSG’s Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid duo Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham, as well as Inter’s Lautaro Martinez and Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski are also in contention.
- Erling Haaland 4/6
- Harry Kane 6/4
- Kylian Mbappe 11/2
- Gabriel Jesus 8/1
- Jude Bellingham 9/1
- Robert Lewandowski 10/1
- Vinicius Jr 10/1
- Lautaro Martinez 12/1
- Julian Alvarez 13/1
