Galatasaray vs Manchester United is at risk of being postponed in the Champions League tonight due to heavy rainfall in Istanbul, but when could we see the match rescheduled?
When Could Galatasaray vs Manchester United Be Rescheduled?
The heavens have opened up in Turkey ahead of Galatasaray and Manchester United’s crucial Group A clash in Istanbul and poor playing conditions could prevent the game from going ahead.
The encounter is set to kick off at 5:45pm GMT but UEFA are still planning for it to go ahead. The governing body of European football said in a statement:
“We are closely monitoring the weather forecast and at this stage the match will go ahead as scheduled”.
Competition rules state that if a match cannot start or cannot be played in full, then the full or remaining match time is played on the following day.
If the game is indeed called off, we could be looking forward to some rare Thursday night Champions League action.

Has A Champions League Game Ever Been Postponed Before?
Yes, UEFA have postponed Champions League games before – most notably in March 2020, when all matches were called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier this year in August, UEFA postponed a qualifying tie between AEK Athens and Dinamo Zagreb after a 29-year-old supporter was killed in overnight clashes between fans.
When Queen Elizabeth died in September 2022, UEFA postponed Arsenal‘s Europa League clash with PSV Eindhoven.
Some Manchester United fans have travelled a long way to watch their team in a decisive match-up on Wednesday, so for their sake let’s hope the action goes ahead as planned.
