Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will break Andy Cole’s record as the fastest player to hit 50 Premier League goals if he finds the back of the net vs Liverpool on Saturday.
Haaland Poised To Smash Another Record In 1st vs 2nd Showdown
Erling Haaland has his eyes set on yet another record when his side host Liverpool in the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon, which would bring an end to Andy Cole’s record feat of scoring 50 league goals in 65 games.
During a 9-0 demolition of Ipswich in March 1995, Cole scored five in 90 minutes to reach the 50-goal mark in the Premier League in just 65 appearances – making him the fastest player ever to hit a half-century.
Haaland has had quite the start to life in the English top-flight and he’s on course to smash Cole’s record in just 48 games if he can find the back of the net against City‘s arch rivals.
Interestingly, Liverpool are one of two sides that the 23-year-old has failed to score against during his Premier League career so far – with the other being Brentford.
Erling Haaland’s next goal will be his 50th in the Premier League.
With just 47 appearances to his name so far, he would smash Andy Cole’s current record who managed his 50 goals in 65 games.
