Andrew found Newcastle winner BLUE BALOO on Thursday and has four stats-based picks on Friday, November 24th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
CHEPSTOW 1.05
MR GREY SKY (system – Fame And Glory, jumps, 8yo+)
Older progeny of sire Fame And Glory have a fine record over obstacles, with those aged eight plus landing 58 of their 442 starts for a profit of ÂŁ99.88 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. This angle provided two winners (14-1 and 5-1) from two bets yesterday and MR GREY SKY, a comfortable winner from the front at Huntingdon last time, could prove hard to pass.
CATTERICK 1.15
CONISTON CLOUDS (system – Nicky Richards, hurdles to handicap chase switchers)
In-form Nicky Richards has a useful recent record when switching a horse from hurdles to handicap chased company, scoring with nine of the 38 qualifiers since the beginning of 2019 for a profit of ÂŁ21.88 to the usual ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. Those who ran in a handicap hurdle last term were eight from 27 (+ÂŁ28.88), with seven 19 beaten horses finishing second. CONISTON CLOUDS finished well held when favourite for a handicap hurdle at Kelso in the spring but was a winner on his penultimate start and might do better now freshened up ahead of his chase/seasonal debut.
CATTERICK 3.35
DEFENCE WITNESS (system – Sandy Thomson, winters runners)
Sandy Thomson has a great record with his runners in the depths of winter and backing them blind in November, December or January, since 2012, would have found 100 winners from 498 bets (20.1%) for a profit of ÂŁ261.98 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. The yard ended a lean spell with a winner at Newcastle yesterday and perhaps DEFENCE WITNESS, successful in his sole point-to-point outing, can follow suit in this bumper.
ASCOT 3.45
SCAMALLACH LIATH (system – Harry Derham, stable switchers)
Harry Derham has a fantastic record at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards (including the horses Oliver Sherwood brought with him when he joined as assistant trainer), scoring with 11 of the 29 qualifiers (38%) for a profit of ÂŁ52.28 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. SCAMALLACH LIATH, placed in four starts for Sherwood after winning a point-to-point in the spring of 2022, can break his Rules duck.
