BBC Sports Pundit and Presenter of The One Show, Jermaine Jenas, has jokingly claimed that he would ‘fight’ Gary Lineker for the role as Match Of The Day Presenter.

The former Newcastle United midfielder is often featured on the show, taking a secondary role to analyse the matches with Gary Lineker being the lead presenter.
Lineker has presented Match Of The Day since 1999 when he took over from Des Lynam and has been the beacon of Premier League highlights.
During the most recent show, Lineker asked The One Show presenter about possibly taking over the role as the lead man on MOTD.
“You want this job?” Lineker said through a smirk and Jermaine Jenas laughingly replied: “No, no, I’m alright, thanks, for now.”
Jenas has been tipped to take over from Lineker, as the former Barcelona player enters his older years and would need to battle the likes of Laura Woods, Mark Chapman and Alex Scott.
Appearing on TalkSport, Jenas was asked about the possibility of taking over on MOTD and whether he would fight Gary Lineker.
Jenas Said: “Gary? Yeah I’d fight him. “I’d like to think that I would win in a fight against Gary!”
However, his former Newcastle teammate, Alan Shearer also came into the conversation, as the Premier League’s all-time scorer could be in line for the job – after almost a decade and a half on the show.
Jenas was less willing to fight the Geordie born pundit, but did claim that he thinks Alan Shearer has shrunk in a hilarious anecdote.
Jenas said: “Yeah I mean, I don’t get where you’re going with this line of questioning to be honest with you! Al was a strange one, I feel like Al has shrunk over the years,
“When I first turned up to Newcastle, we used to get changed at St. James’ Park and then catch a coach to training. We didn’t have a training ground, so when they signed me, I think somebody said, ‘Take him to the training ground.’
“I remember looking at Al getting changed and I thought, ‘I’ve got to wear shin pads for training, I didn’t realise.’ We didn’t, his legs were that big, his calves and his ankles were just huge.
“People like him and [Wayne] Rooney, they’re just built that way. But yeah, that Shearer, I’m not fighting him.”
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder may be willing to fight Gary Lineker, but is clearly wanting to avoid Alan Shearer!
