VAR has been the centre of attention yet again in the Premier League this weekend and Monday night was no different, as the first half of Chelsea vs Tottenham was drowned in controversial calls.
VAR Takes Centre Stage
Fans are always treated to a thriller when Tottenham face Chelsea in the Premier League and Monday’s first half was yet another classic from the get go.
Destiny Udogie could have see red for spurs after just over 15 minutes had been played, with VAR electing to show only a yellow to the Italian for his two footed challenge on Raheem Sterling.

It was Sterling who thought he had the equaliser for Chelsea just a few minutes later, but the referee disallowed the goal after a lengthy VAR check with handball given against the attacker.
In the build up to the goal that was chalked off Cristian Romero could be seen taking a swipe at his opponent and he was perhaps lucky to stay on the pitch after a reckless challenge.
Chelsea scored again juts five minutes later, with Moises Caicedo striking a low shot into the bottom corner from range leaving Guglielmo Vicario helpless in goal to prevent the equaliser.
VAR did come to Tottenham’s rescue yet again though, as Michael Oliver disallowed the finish with Nicolas Jackson impeding the goalkeeper’s view from an offside position.

Cole Palmer stepped up to score from the spot yet again for the Blues, to equalise against the man Tottenham after a crazy five minutes in North London.
Things went from bad to worse after the penalty equaliser, as Micky Van De Ven and James Madison were both substituted with serious looking injuries just before half time.
