Scotland have officially qualified for Euro 2024 after Spain defeated Norway on Sunday evening and proud members of the Tartan Army took to the streets of Lille to celebrate ahead of their friendly against France on Tuesday.

After an incredible qualifying campaign that saw them win five matches in succession, Scotland have officially qualified for Euro 2024 with two games to spare.

The Scots needed Spain to avoid defeat to Norway on Sunday to secure their advancement to the tournament’s finals, and after a 1-0 win to the Spanish – members of the Tartan Army took to the streets of Lille to celebrate ahead of Tuesday night’s friendly against France.

“I can’t believe we’ve done it with two games to spare. If you would’ve told me that at the beginning of the group, I’d have bit your hand off for it.” one fan told Sky Sports News.

Another said: “It’s a dream come true. It’s a year ago that the group came out and everybody said ‘it’s gonna be a hard one’, but we all believed and after bit of a disappointment on Thursday night – we’re through now and we can’t wait to go to Germany.”

One fan was asked how confident he was that Scotland could make a mark on the tournament, to which he remarkably responded by saying that the Tartan Army can go all the way.

“I think we can win it, you know? We can win it.”

Scotland take on the French at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy at 20:00 on Tuesday evening to round off the international window, before returning to action next month with two qualifiers against Georgia and Norway.

The Scots currently occupy second place in Group A – level on points with Spain, however they can only finish in top spot if they end on a higher points tally than the Spanish due to Jose Luis De La Fuente’s side holding the more favourable head-to-head record.
