Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder, Toni Kroos, as the German international’s contract is set to run out next summer.

The Cityzens are said to be lining up an offer for the summer of 2024, as the German midfielder will be out of contract and looks likely to lose his place in the starting eleven.

Adding Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni to their midfield over recent years has highlighted a shift for Los Blancos.

Long-time servant, Casemiro, left the club in 2022 and indicated the beginning of a new era in the Spanish capital, which could be on the way for both Toni Kroos and his partner in crime, Luka Modric.

The Croatian midfielder has played under 400 minutes for the club so far and is yet to complete a full 90 minutes in the league – showing the new era to be in full swing.

Similarly, Kroos has played under 600 minutes in all competitions this season, the fewest at this stage of a campaign in his career. Meaning a move elsewhere could well be on the cards, with Manchester City interested in the 33-year-old.

Pep Guardiola’s side had enjoyed a seamless start to the Premier League, winning their first seven matches – however things have taken a turn for the blue half of Manchester.

Rodri received a red card against Nottingham Forest, suspending the Spaniard for three matches and since then City have lost to Wolves, Newcastle and Arsenal in all competitions.

Adding Kroos to their side in the summer next year could be a smart addition for Guardiola’s squad, after losing Ilkay Gundogan.

Reports suggest that Man City are willing to pay Toni Kroos £13m a year, which would make him one of the highest paid players at the club.
