Tottenham star, James Maddison has poked fun at Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold following the two teams’ controversial VAR incident at the end of September.

What Happened In The Aftermath Of The Tottenham Vs. Liverpool VAR Blunder?

A lot has happened since VAR’s blunder in the Tottenham vs. Liverpool game on September 30, which saw a perfectly good Luis Diaz goal ruled out for offside by VAR, eventually leading Liverpool to lose the game 2-1.

Following the release of the damning audio of the incident, PGMOL have been under mounting pressure with managers, players and pundits alike all weighing in on the incident.

As a result, the VAR official responsible for the error, Darren England, has been removed from all Liverpool games for the remainder of the season and Adrian Holmes, the linesman responsible for calling Luis Diaz offside in the first place, was demoted to Championship duties at the weekend.

What Did James Maddison Say To Alexander-Arnold?

Having linked up for the first time since the blunder on international duty for England, Tottenham’s James Maddison has added fuel to the fire by winding up Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In a story post uploaded to his Instagram, Maddison can be seen chatting to an animated Trent-Alexander Arnold with the caption ‘Still asking for a replay’.

This comes after Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp stated the only fair resolution of the incident was a replay between Tottenham and Liverpool.

On the incident, Klopp said: “A replay would be the right thing. That’s my view on it. I’m not angry at anybody. The only thing for human beings in general, no one should go for them, they feel horrible about it at night I’m 100 percent sure. No one needs further punishment. I’m happy to discuss it but I’m here to prepare a super and important game.”

England face Australia in a friendly match on Friday, October 13, where both Maddison and Alexander-Arnold will be hoping to start the games alongside each other, before facing Italy in a crucial European Championship qualifier against Italy on Tuesday, October 17.
