Crystal Palace remain in the top half of the Premier League after earning a point against Nottingham Forest, in an affair which left both sides rueing golden opportunities to win.

Morgan Gibbs-White struck the post for the visitors after applying a soft touch to lob Sam Johnstone from a superb through-ball by Murillo after 20 minutes, which finished as Forest’s best chance of the game.

The hosts almost went in front just after the hour mark when Jean-Philippe Mateta was played through on goal by Odsonne Edouard, but the former allowed the ball to run across his body and he slipped at exactly the worst time.

As a whole, the encounter was ruled as a frustrating point for the pair who will both feel like they had chances to put the game away and earn a huge three points – but they’ll also be grateful to earn a point when it could’ve just as easily gone the other way.

Palace haven’t conceded in the league in their last three games, with a 0-0 draw tonight and vs Fulham alongside last week’s win at Old Trafford marking a solid run of form from Roy Hodgson’s men.

This is the first time they’e achieved that feat since April 2022, a nice present for Hodgson who managed his 400th professional football match on Saturday.

Forest are now unbeaten in four of their last five outings, with draws against Brentford and Burnley as well as a win at Chelsea giving the Reds a bit of quiet momentum.

There were doubts about Steve Cooper’s job security but with the former champions of Europe sat in 13th with just three defeats after eight games, things are looking promising.

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis could reward the Welshman in the January transfer window with some new additions. According to our exclusive odds, Forest are favourite to make a move for Samuel Illing-Junior.

Palace remain above Manchester United, Chelsea and Fulham to occupy ninth spot – just three points adrift Aston Villa in fifth.
