Brighton fought back from two goals down to rescue a point against Marseille in a 2-2 draw at the Stade Velodrome on Thursday night. Following the result, take a look at the latest Brighton Europa League odds.
Story Of The Game
After falling to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of AEK Athens in their maiden Europa League game, Brighton were hoping to bounce back when they travelled to France to take on Marseille on Thursday.
However, the Ligue 1 side had other ideas.
Marseille started the game off well and made that count when former Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba put the hosts 1-0 up with a cool finish. Jonathan Clauss worked the ball well down the right hand side before sending a low cross into the danger zone where it was met by Mbemba.
The Brighton defence failed to clear the ball and were made to pay for it.
Things went from bad to worse for Roberto De Zerbi’s side as just two minutes later, Marseille doubled their lead. Another former Premier League player in Jordan Veretout found the back of the net as he converted another cross sent in from the right flank.

Although Brighton were not determined to go down without a fight and pulled one back early in the second half. Pascal Gross slotted home after some good work on the wing from Mitoma.
De Zerbi’s side kept pushing and were rewarded for their determination as they were awarded a late penalty. Joao Pedro stepped up and converted cooly taking his tally to three goals in the competition this season.

There is still plenty of work for the Seagulls to do in the group, but their first ever point in Europe should give them some confidence going forward.
