The Eberechi Eze injury update coming out of the Crystal Palace training camp is that their star midfielder could be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury. News that will also be a blow to Gareth Southgate with England having internationals later this month.

Eberechi Eze Injury Blow As Palace’s Star Man Out For Six Weeks

With Wilfried Zaha departing in the summer and Michael Olise injured, much of the early season ‘shoulder carrying’ at Crystal Palace fell to Eberechi Eze.

The 25 year-old former Arsenal youth player has risen to the task though and has helped the Eagles get off to a solid start in the Premier League with 11 points from their opening seven games.

The latest of those wins came only last Saturday with a shock 1-0 away win over Manchester United, but even though it’s unclear if Eze picked up an injury here, he was replaced in the 88th minute, which suggests there was a niggle brewing.

Prior to that subbing, Eze had figured in EVERY minute of Crystal Palace’s league campaign this term and having impressed also got an England call up for the last round of international fixtures back in early September.

Eze Injury Also Rules Him Out Of Upcoming England Internationals

Eze made his England debut against Malta back in June and also came on as a sub in their recent 3-1 win over Scotland.

However, with the latest hamstring Eberechi Eze injury news filtering out, this will mean England boss Gareth Southgate is expected to leave him out of his plans for the next upcoming Three Lions fixtures.

England will face Australia on Friday 13th October, and then Italy on Tuesday 17th October.

Southgate could turn to West Ham’s duo of James Bowen and James Ward-Prowse, who have both impressed in recent weeks, as Eze replacements.

Palace Will Be Without Eze In The League For The First Time Since May 2022

Eberechi Eze also featured in ALL of Crystal Palace’s 38 Premier League matches last season, so this latest injury blow for the Eagles will mean this Saturday’s home 5:30pm clash with Nottingham Forest will be the first time Eze hasn’t started a Premier League game for the South London club since May 2022.

With the Palace injury list also featuring Jefferson Lerma, James Tomkins, Odsonne Edouard and Michael Olise, then Eagles boss Roy Hodgson’s first team squad will be under more pressure in the coming weeks.

Jairo Riedewald, who came on as sub against Manchester United last weekend, and Jerurun Rak-Sakyi would be possibles to replace Eze in the coming weeks.

  • Newcastle vs Palace (21st Oct)
