Jose Mourinho took a cheeky dig at his former club Chelsea, after Romelu Lukaku scored yet again for his new side Roma over the weekend.

A Quick Start For Romelu Lukaku At Roma

Romelu Lukaku has kicked off his career for Roma in seriously impressive style, with the Belgian forward already netting four goals in his first six games.

Having already managed Lukaku at both Chelsea and Manchester United, Roma manager Jose Mourinho is certainly no stranger to the 30-year-old’s power and ability up front.

Lukaku scored yet again for the Italian side this weekend during their 2-0 win over Frosinone and Mourinho took a sly dig at former club Chelsea during his post match comments.

“I thought that I could be held responsible for Lukaku not scoring! At the very least, nobody can accuse me of that, because Romelu keeps scoring.

“He scores here, he scores at Manchester United, at Inter. Romelu scores everywhere.”

Mourinho noticeably left Chelsea out of the list of clubs Lukaku did well at, perhaps due to the sour way both him and Lukaku ended up leaving the Blues, as well as their current form.

“Fortunately, I am not a coach who can remove Romelu’s qualities. You keep talking about [my] future, that is not something I need to worry about, my future is the promise I made until June 30.

“A coach must respect the club owners and not comment on anything. I am happy for them that we won today, because obviously the owners want to win. I work for them, I work for the Roma fans and I work for the players. When we do well, I am happy.”

Roma will next be in action on Thursday night, with Mourinho’s side taking on Servette in Europa League matchday two.
