Who Are The 2023 Ryder Cup Team Captains?
Europe are back on home soil for the 2023 Ryder Cup following their record defeat two years ago at Whistling Straits. Steve Stricker’s USA thrashed Padraig Harrington’s Europe 19-9 last time out, extending the USA’s lead in the biennial golf event to 27-14.
Now, America look to go back-to-back and win on European soil for the first time in 30 years. Europe on the other hand will be confident of winning a seventh straight Ryder Cup at home. Henrick Stenson was supposed to be the man picking the European Ryder Cup team this year, but due to his defection to LIV Golf, he was removed as captain.
Up stepped former world number one Luke Donald, who replaced the Swede and will lead the European side out for the 44th Ryder Cup. On the other side, two-time major champion Zach Johnson will lead the US side at Marco Simone Golf & County Club in Rome, Italy.
Both Johnson and Donald have plenty of Ryder Cup experience between them. The USA Ryder Cup team captain appeared in five Ryder Cup’s, also serving as a vice-captain to Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker respectively in 2018 and 2021. Johnson won just one Ryder Cup, being a part of a losing team on four occasions.
On the other hand, Europe team captain, Luke Donald, played in four Ryder Cup’s himself and was never part of a losing team. Could that prove to be telling when it comes to winning experience ahead of the 2023 Ryder Cup?

Who Are The 2023 Ryder Cup Vice-Captains?
With Luke Donald and Zach Johnson confirmed as the two Ryder Cup captains, it was time for them to pick their five vice-captains.
For Zach Johnson, he opted for experience in abundance with his five vice-captain picks. Former captains Steve Striker, Jim Furyk and Davis Love III are all heading to Rome as part of the USA non-playing squad. So too is veteran Fred Couples, who has been vice-captain on two occasions. Johnson’s last pick was Stewart Cink, who is a former major champion with a wealth of Ryder Cup experience.
Luke Donald has opted for a more inexperienced non-playing squad, with Nicolas Colsaerts, Francesco Molinari and Edoardo Molinari all getting their first taste of being a vice-captain. Former winning captains Thomas Bjorn and José María Olazábal are the two other vice-captains alongside the Englishman.
