Premier League relegation battlers Everton reportedly remain keen on signing Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto despite having several bids rebuffed by the Yorkshire-outfit in the summer.
Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto was expected by many to depart Elland Road this summer, with interest from some of the biggest teams across Europe as well as in the Premier League, however the Yorkshire-based side blocked an exit, and he will now remain at the club – at least until January.
And one of the most interested clubs in acquiring his services were relegation strugglers Everton, who had several bids for the Italian rejected by Leeds, which subsequently led to Gnonto handing in a transfer request.
After this, he was excluded from Daniel Farke’s main squad, but a move failed to materialise due to a gap in valuation between the clubs, but he has since returned to the fold in the second tier and has turned out for the Whites in their last five matches.
This hasn’t ended Everton’s interest in the Italy international though, with Football Insider reporting that the Toffees remain keen on a move for him, and will continue monitoring his progress in the Championship, along with a whole host of elite European clubs.

Although Gnonto has dropped down to the second tier, he remains involved with the Italian national team and turned out from the bench in their last two European Championship qualifying matches against North Macedonia and Ukraine.
Clearly one of their most prized assets, Leeds are believed to be looking to extend the youngster’s contract before January in an attempt to block Everton and co. from being able to snatch him from under their noses.
Whether he stays put beyond the winter transfer window remains to be seen, but one thing that’s certain is that the Inter Milan academy graduate will play a major role if Leeds are to secure promotion back to the English top flight at the first attempt.
