Tottenham Hotspur and Brazil striker Richarlison says he will “seek psychological help” upon his return to England after the international break.

Richarlison Set For “Psychological Help”

The Spurs forward appeared to be emotional after being subbed off during Brazil’s 5-1 win over Bolivia on Saturday and was pictured in tears.

He was also substituted in the second half of Brazil’s triumph over Peru on Tuesday night when it was still 0-0 in the game. They eventually scored a late winner through PSG defender Marquinhos.

Richarlison has only scored four goals in 40 appearances for Spurs since joining from Everton for £40m last summer.

He revealed to Brazilian media that he was recently struggling with some off-field problems, saying the reaction was down to “getting things that were happening off the pitch out of my system”.

“I went through a turbulent time off the pitch during these past five months,” he told newspaper O Globo.

“Now things are a bit more stable at home. People who only had their eye on my money are no longer close to me.

“Things are going to flow now and I’m certain that I will have a good run at Tottenham and will make things happen again.

“I’m going to return to England and seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to strengthen my mind. That’s what it is about, to come back stronger.”

Richarlison did not state what his off-field issues were, but the same outlet he was interviewed by recently reported that he had parted ways with long-term agent Renato Velasco. He was a big part of Richarlison’s life, having supported him since the start of his career.

The departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich has opened up a new opportunity for Richarlison at Spurs, and he will hope to build on his one goal so far this season. The 26-year-old scored in the Carabao Cup against Fulham at the end of August.
