SportsLens Head of News Lee Astley said: “It was only two summers ago that Harry Maguire was being heaped with praise during England’s runner-up finish at Euro 2020 and touted as one of football’s elite centre-backs.

“Things haven’t gone as smoothly since, with the player losing his starting place at Manchester United and a horrendous patch of form leaving him as one of the sport’s biggest laughing stocks.

“Odds of 4/11 to make the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 competition are unsurprising considering Gareth Southgate’s unwavering loyalty to the player, despite it being a fairly ridiculous call.

“2/1 to have his contract cancelled by Manchester United would be a huge payday for the 30-year-old, and he’s 5/1 to retire from professional football entirely by the end of his deal at Old Trafford in June 2025.

“Those in the running to add Maguire to their squad include West Ham United, who made a serious attempt to sign the player this summer but weren’t able to get a deal over the line due to his unwillingness to part ways with his £200,000-a-week salary in Manchester.

“Former clubs Leicester City and Sheffield United are also expected to show interest, as well as Hull City.”
