After back-to-back dominant victories against Everton in the Premier League and Hibernian in the Conference League, we at SportsLens are backing Unai Emery’s side to make it three successive wins.
The Villans were beaten heavily in their season opener by a strong Newcastle United side, but have been nothing short of excellent since – comprehensively dispatching of the opposition in their last two matches with 4-0, and 5-0 scorelines.
Ollie Watkins scored his first goals of the season in the midweek clash against Hibs too, where he scored a hat-trick in just under 48 minutes, so if he can carry that into the league – Villa look a force to be reckoned with.
Burnley’s sample size isn’t quite the same as that of their Midlands-based counterparts, as they have played just one competitive match this term – and that was against treble-winners Manchester City.
Vincent Kompany’s side fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Cityzens in the first game of the 2023/24 Premier League season, and haven’t played a competitive game in the two weeks since, making them somewhat of an unknown entity – however at 57/50, we’re backing Villa to maintain their recent form with a win.

Burnley vs Aston Villa Betting Tip 2: Over 2.5 goals @ 10/13 with BetUK
Combined, Burnley and Villa have played four competitive matches this term with all four of those going over 2.5 goals – so it’s no surprise to see that we’re backing the same feat to be achieved at 10/13 on Sunday afternoon.
As previously cited, the Clarets were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City in their sole game so far this season, whilst 10 goals have been scored in the Villans’ two league games since kickstarting the campaign (five for, five against).
Their dominant victory in midweek, albeit being against weaker opposition, takes their goal tally to 10 so far for the season, whilst Burnley are still searching for their first goal in 2023/24.
Not only have all three of Villa’s competitive games so far this season gone over 2.5 goals, but so did four of their six pre-season matches, so we’re backing the trend to continue in gameweek three.

Burnley vs Aston Villa Betting Tip 3: Ollie Watkins to score anytime @ 13/8 with BetUK
He’s yet to score in the English top flight this term, but with a European hat-trick to his name in midweek – we at SportsLens are predicting Ollie Watkins to bag his first league goal of the campaign against Burnley.
Watkins enjoyed a rich vein of goalscoring form towards the latter half of last season, which saw him finish on 16 goals and six assists in all competitions.
He carried that form into this season with an assist on the opening Saturday, and it now looks to just be a matter of time before he opens his Premier League account for 2023/24.
Notably, the 27-year-old was on the scoresheet the last time Burnley and Villa met at Turf Moor last year, and so, at 13/8 – we’re backing Watkins to score anytime during Sunday’s fixture.
