Luton’s life in the Premier League didn’t get off to a dream start at the Amex this afternoon, as Europa League side Brighton shipped four past the Hatters in what was ultimately a thrashing.
It was business as usual for Brighton at the Amex in their Premier League opener against Luton, as they shipped four past the Hatters on their return to the English top flight.
The Seagulls were on the front-foot from the off, with chances for Joao Pedro, Lewis Dunk and Danny Welbeck all failing to open the scoring, however that changed after 36 minutes.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side were handed the lead by Solly March, who headed home brilliantly from an inch-perfect Kaoru Mitoma cross.

That scoreline remained for the remainder of the first-half, and until the 71st minute when the hosts were awarded a penalty.
Summer signing Pedro stepped up to the task, and made no mistake in smashing home to double the Seagulls’ advantage.
10 minutes later though, history was made, as Luton netted their first ever Premier League goal through a Carlton Morris penalty – putting the pressure back on the hosts.
The pressure was short lived though, as Simon Adingra added a third for Brighton on his debut just four minutes later, before Evan Ferguson netted a fourth in added time to seal the three points.
Brighton are back in action at the same time next week – away at Wolverhampton Wanderers, whilst the Hatters must wait 13 days before being back in Premier League action when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
