Manchester United played RC Lens in their penultimate pre-season game winning 3-1 but see below as Twitter reacts after the Mason Mount open goal miss went viral, which was one of the biggest talking points of the game.

Mason Mount Misses Open Goal & Twitter Are Loving It

The England international signed for the Red Devils from Chelsea this summer in a £55m deal, and made his first appearance in red at Old Trafford on Saturday.

However he had a first half to forget after he missed an open goal. It was a golden opportunity for his first United goal, but he made a complete mess of his effort.

Erik ten Hag’s side put together a wonderful move as Bruno Fernandes sent Alejandro Garnacho clear, and the latter put it on a plate for Mount – who completely miss-kicked the ball. See the Mason Mount open goal miss below.

Chelsea Twitter were certainly seeing the funny side when they seen the Mason Mount open goal catastrophe.

They were 1-0 down at half time after Lens took the lead through Florian Sotoca screamer, lobbing Andre Onana from the halfway line (see below).

However, United were looking well in attack, and quickly started firing in the second half. Marcus Rashford pulled one back just after the break, before Brazilian duo Antony and Casemiro scored twice in six minutes. The Red Devils found themselves 3-1 up on the hour mark, and held off for the win.

They play Athletic Bilbao in their final pre-season game on Sunday, before starting their Premier League campaign at home to Wolves next Monday night (14th August).
