1:50pm – Coral Stewards’ Sprint Handicap (Consolation Race For The Stewards’ Cup) Cl2 (3yo+) 6f ITV: LIVE IN THE MOMENT @ 9/1
The first race for the Saturday Matt Chapman Glorious Goodwood tips sees him back LIVE IN THE MOMENT in the 1.50pm for trainer Alice Haynes and jockey Shariq Mohd.
LIVE IN THE MOMENT is drawn next to the stands rail which might be an advantage if it comes up very soft and there is lots of rain on the day.
It’s hard to say whether he’s better at 5f or 6f, but if he pings out he’ll get away from many of these and Shariq Mahd takes off a useful 7lb and an apprentice might not be a bad thing on a freewheeler. Fingers crossed the Alice Haynes runner is back to his best.
2:25pm – Coral Summer Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 1m6f ITV: SWEET WILLIAM @ 9/4
Matt Chapman’s second tip on Saturday at Glorious Goodwood sees him back the Gosden-trained SWEET WILLIAM in the 2:25pm as the 9/4 outright favourite with the best horse racing betting apps.
SWEET WILLIAM is so progressive that he might well cope with a rise in the weights to 95. He was off 88 when hacking up at Newbury the other day and that looked a fair event.
Ground and distance are no issue and it will just depend whether this is a step too far for the John & Thady runner ridden by Robert Havlin for Normandie Stud.
3:00pm – Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m6f ITV: FREE WIND @ 11/10
Next up for Matt Chapman is FREE WIND in the Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes, again for the Gosden’s. Frankie Dettori is given the ride here on the 5-year-old who is also the 11/10 favourite with the best horse racing betting sites.
Hard to get away from FREE WIND who is back down in class having found Pyledriver too strong in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot. She ran flat that day and is a lot better than that effort suggests.
That said, she might not have to be here. Soft ground is no issue and is another for John & Thady Gosden with Frankie Dettori on top.
3:35pm – Coral Stewards’ Cup (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 (3yo+) 6f ITV: ORAZIO @ 5/1
The fourth and final Matt Chapman Glorious Goodwood tip on Saturday sees him back the Charles Hills-trained 4-year-old – ORAZIO.
This is very dull, but ‘Chappers’ actually just think leading fancy ORAZIO will land the prize. He was in blistering form on soft ground earlier in the season with wins at Newmarket and Ascot before finishing sixth in the Wokingham when he failed to have the pace needed on the fast ground.
