Tottenham are reportedly in talks with Argentinian side Rosario Central over the prospect of signing their 19-year-old striker Alejo Veliz, with a loan back also being discussed.

According to reports, Tottenham have agreed personal terms with Argentine forward Alejo Veliz and are in talks with Rosario Central over his permanent transfer.

The 19-year-old has regularly featured in Argentina’s Primera Division over the past two seasons, and his performances have drawn interest from Europe’s elite.

And now Fabrizio Romano reports that the striker has a long-term contract in place with Tottenham, however Rosario Central would like to keep him on loan for at least six months.

“Alejo Véliz has agreed personal terms with Tottenham, player wants to join — long term contract in place.” Romano tweeted on Thursday morning.

“Negotiations are underway between clubs — Rosario Central ask to keep Véliz on loan for at least six months.”

A move for Veliz, who is an Argentina U20 international, is one that Tottenham make looking toward their long-term future.

The move comes amid uncertainty over the club’s current talismanic striker Harry Kane, who remains heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

Whether Veliz has what it takes to fill the enormous void that Kane’s departure would leave remains to be seen, but with 11 goals in 23 league matches this term – he certainly looks to be a talent to keep an eye on.

Tottenham weren’t the only Premier League side that were reportedly interested in Veliz, though. Nottingham Forest had also been heavily linked with a move for the striker, however it now looks as if Spurs have beaten them to the punch.
