Tottenham are reportedly closing in on signing central defensive talent Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg having already agreed personal terms with the young Dutchman.

Ange Postecoglou may finally have his wish granted of signing a new central defender, as Tottenham are reportedly close to signing Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg.

Spurs have been after a new defender for several months, and had been linked with Edmond Tapsoba along with Van de Ven, but it looks as if they’ve opted for the latter.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, who revealed on Wednesday afternoon that a deal between Tottenham and Wolfsburg was advancing to its final stages.

Romano also confirmed that personal terms have already been agreed, and that there are no issues on that front.

“Tottenham are close to reaching an agreement with Wolfsburg for Micky Van de Ven! Deal advancing to final stages now” Romano tweeted.

“There are still details to sort but talks underway — agreement could be done soon.

“Personal terms, 100% agreed.”

Tottenham have been one of the more active Premier League clubs in the transfer market, having signed three new players during since the end of last season.

James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario and Manor Solomon have all joined the north London side, whilst Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro have joined permanently after initially joining on loan.

In terms of defensive incomings and outgoings, Davinson Sanchez is largely expected to depart, whilst Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga have also been tipped to exit.

At just 22-years-old, Van de Ven could slot in perfectly at the heart of the Spurs defence for many years to come in what looks to be a shrewd signing by Postecoglou’s side.
