Allan Saint-Maximin has confirmed his Newcastle departure with a heartfelt goodbye message on social media, with the Frenchman expected to be unveiled as an official Al-Ahli player imminently.

In a heartfelt farewell message to fans of the club, Allan Saint-Maximin has seemingly confirmed his Newcastle departure ahead of his expected Saudi Pro League move.

The Magpies were reportedly looking to offload the Frenchman to raise funds for Harvey Barnes‘ transfer, and now having confirmed the Englishman’s arrival from Leicester, Saint-Maximin looks to be heading out the door.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed earlier this morning that Saint-Maximin’s move to Al-Ahli is all but confirmed, with the club expected to unveil the forward as an official player imminently.

Saint-Maximin becomes the club’s second high-profile Premier League signing of the week, having confirmed the arrival of Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City on Friday.

In a statement on social media, Saint-Maximin emotionally bid farewell to Magpies fans.

“4 years ago, I wore the Newcastle jersey for the first time. At that moment, I hadn’t realized that not only was I about to become a Newcastle player, but I was also about to become a Geordie.” he wrote.

“Believe me, I fell for Newcastle, I had great opportunities to leave during dark days, but that was too late I was already in love, I wanted, I needed, I had to stay for helping my team to save the club from Premier League relegation because it meant the world for me.

“I’m leaving Newcastle as it should always have been and that’s my greatest trophy because I was a part of it.

“Newcastle is home now, I’ll continue to be your biggest supporter, I’ll watch every game and as long as the club keeps winning I’ll be the happiest man in the world…and for sure you will see me again.

“I love you, I love you sincerely, I love you like a Geordie brother. Once a Geordie, always a Geordie.”
