Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that the club are looking to sign one more midfielder this summer, but insisted that Conor Gallagher is still a part of his plans going forward.

Conor Gallagher has been subject to plenty of transfer interest over the past few months, with West Ham being the latest to show serious interest.

Rumours of his departure have no doubt been accelerated due to the Stamford Bridge side’s interest in Moises Caicedo, however a gap in valuation still remains between the club and Brighton.

The Hammers sent an offer believed to be in the region of £40million for Gallagher, only to be denied by Chelsea, who are reportedly looking to secure £50million to facilitate a sale.

David Moyes’ side are readying another bid for the 23-year-old, as they look to attack the market after securing a record-breaking £105million from Arsenal for club captain Declan Rice.

Gallagher is currently away with the Blues squad in the United States for their pre-season tour and has scored in both matches so far, versus Wrexham and Brighton.

New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has been left impressed by Gallagher’s performances, and despite confirming that he wants to sign another midfielder, the Argentine has insisted that the Englishman still remains a part of his plans for the season ahead.

“Conor is in our plans, I was talking with him the first day he arrived that he is in our plans,” Pochettino said.

“Then in football, anything can happen, we can manage and at the moment, I am happy with him, with his performance, still a two-year contract, and nothing to say.

“It depends on the situation of different players. I think we need one more [midfielder], we are working on that, but it depends on what happens in the next few weeks. We will decide and then take a decision.”
